Pirate Partying: Jonah’s 1st Birthday

The only time my godson, Jonah, isn’t smiling is when he’s asleep, but even then I wonder what baby dreams have him laughing in his slumber. Dressed like a pirate on his first birthday, he greeted every guest with his cheerful mug – a relief for mom and dad, who worked so hard to make his party such a fun one.

Pirate cake pops? Check! Pirate balloons and pinata? Check! Balloon artist, a taco stand, yummy sweets? Check, check and check! Parents dressed up like Captain Hook and Smee from Peter Pan? BIG CHECK!

Happy 1st birthday, Jonah!

Center of Attention: Natalia and Her Family

“She gives away her smiles for free,” my friend, Grace said about little Natalia (Lia, for short).

When I arrived at the Lopez household after a long day at work, I was greeted by a little ball of sunshine crawling around the living room. It took all but 2 minutes for Lia to assess whether I was friend or foe, and then it was all smiles. Her big sis, Olivia (Livie for short), was a harder sell, but she was a good sport nonetheless.

I’m so amused by the relationship between two sisters, maybe because I’ve got a little sister of my own. That’s why the last 15 minutes of our session had me cracking up. “Hug your sister!” Grace urged Livie. Hilarious, these two!

Thanks, Jorge, Grace, Livie and Lia – the long day at the office and the drive through rush hour traffic were but fleeting annoyances after an evening with you!

Little Bug-a-Boo: Lorelai’s 1st Birthday

Cute, sassy, silly – that’s my niece, Lorelai in a nutshell. The sassiness she gets from her mom, the silliness from her dad. The cuteness she’s had from the womb – I just know it. Her smile is gigantic for such a super petite little baby and she just breathes happiness and joy. Oh to be a one-year old, right?

Happy 1st birthday, my adorable, sweet niece!
