One of the most valuable, and also most challenging, lessons I’ve learned (and continue to learn) over the last few years, is the importance of allowing ourselves to RECEIVE love - from others, but even from ourselves. “It takes a village.” // When I think about 42 years of life, this saying comes to mind, because really, life isn’t lived by each of us alone. Our lives are lived by the many people who have been sent to create, nurture, strengthen, teach, encourage and bring joy to us. // This is a fun photo, yeah? Just want to take a moment to talk up this gal - my cousin, Aimee, who is, hands down, one of the most generous and thoughtful people in my life. Every time I’m up north, which is relatively often, she turns into my personal concierge, Lyft, Yelp, Waze and sometimes mom, who texts me before I fly out, when we’re apart during my visit, while I’m at the airport and after I’ve landed back home. All that, and we always have the best time when we’re together! Just love and appreciate her so much! 💞💞💞 #cousinsarethebest #waythankfulwednesday

This sweet little beauty is my just-turned-18-so-watch-out cousin. When I used to come up to NorCal and stay at her house, three year old Megan used to follow me around. She even cried when we dropped her off at daycare. I’d Frenchbraid her hair in the morning and by pick-up time, her mop was a hot mess 🤣 And now she’s getting ready for college and I can’t believe it. I’m so proud of this young lady! Loved celebrating you, Megs! Thanks, Tita Mayette, for throwing such a fun party! I know Tito Paul was getting down, with probably some embarrassing dance moves, in heaven 😆❤️

I thought I would feel worse once I got to L.A. Live. Yes, I cried, because honestly, you can’t help it. // It’s amazing how thousands of people could be milling about Staples Center, a place that’s usually so loud with music, chatter and lights, and have it be so quiet. Yes, it was quiet; fans standing/sitting/kneeling by the makeshift memorial, somber in their prayer and reverie. Being there made the tragedy more real, but there was also a strange comfort gained; one that collective mourning offered. #RIPKobe #RIPKobeandGianna #KobeMemorial
