San Family – Los Angeles (Hollywood), CA

17 years – that’s about how long it’s been since Jenn and I had spent more than a few minutes in the same space. After high school, we ran into each other a scatter of times, and then when Facebook came around, we saw glimpses of the other’s life, commenting and liking each other’s posts as a way of communicating. A few months ago, she asked if I could do a maternity/family session for her and I’m so happy she did!

She has a beautiful family, made up of her hubby, Massan and super entertaining, wonderfully amiable daughter, Ava who I took to instantly; and then, of course, another little girl on the way. We spent about two hours at Barnsdall Art Park, and I think I found a new favorite spot to shoot. The weather at 11 am was gorgeous that December morning, and the warmth of such a loving family proved to be all the light I needed.

Lopez Family – Chino Hills, CA

Kaylee Jo and Kiera – cutie pie names for cutie pie gals! They had me at, “My favorite color’s purple.” (Laker fans in the making, folks). ┬áBefore their family session, though, Kay warned me, “Kaylee Jo hates taking pictures.” I panicked for about a minute then remembered this great piece of advice – Build A Bridge. So that’s exactly what I did. A few minutes upon their arrival, I broke out the big guns…DISNEY PRINCESSES. I knew being a big kid was going to benefit me somehow…eventually. Soon Kaylee was hamming it up for me with her little sister, Kiera as we chatted on about Cinderealla, Snow White and Disneyland. What can I say? Knowledge is power =)

We strolled around Butterfield Park, up the hill, down the hill, often tracking through autumn leaves in the process. Joey and Kay let the girls run freely, but when it came time to get some photos together, Kaylee and Kiera wrapped their arms around mommy and daddy like there was no tomorrow. Thanks for letting me be part of those super sweet moments, Lopez Fam!

Wongcharoensuk Family – Chino Hills, CA

“We’ve never sent Christmas cards before, but we’re going to this year. It’s the grown-up thing to do.”

Diana, you crack me up! But I see your point and am so honored I had a part in your first family Holiday greeting.

I’ve had the blessing of having friends who I’ve known forever, and Markie is one such buddy. I’ve known him since high school and, aside from becoming a husband and father, he hasn’t really changed much, which makes me love him even more (no matter how often the short jokes fly out of his mouth). And I love him even more for marrying someone like Diana who I get to call my friend, because it’s just so easy to love her too. She can spend a whole bachelorette weekend in Hawaii with a group of girls (half of whom she barely met), and easily befriend them. Mark is exactly the same so this pairing isn’t all that surprising. And now this pair is raising a pair of their own, A.J. and Madi =)

Thanks for spending the morning smiling and posing for me, you guys!
