Anticipation: Rochelle & Matt

I can’t describe it – being an auntie. I know it’s a cliche to say it, but it really does seem just like yesterday when Matt, Rochelle and I were kids playing in my aunt’s backyard; and then a few years ago they were married, and now they await the arrival of a baby daughter. And hey! I get a niece! A new little child to spoil – I will never get of sick it!

Matt and Rochelle keep saying that they’re so not ready to be parents, and despite all the assurance that our first-time parent friends have provided, they’re still worried and excited at the same time. I know they’ll be excellent parents. If their baby is lucky, she’ll have her mother’s superintelligence and kind heart, not to mention her father’s sense of humor and sarcasm. Gosh, I can already hear her little voice =)

As much as Rochelle and Matt hate taking pictures, they didn’t want to miss out on the chance to remember every part of their baby daughter’s life – from the very beginning. It was pouring rain that day, but they have this huge set of windows in their living room that provided just the right amount of light. And in moments I needed it, I cheated and used a flash – I know, drats! It didn’t matter, though. Flash or window light, the brightest things in that house were Rochelle, Matt and soon-to-be big sister pup, Chewie – glowing with anticipation.

Thing 1, Thing 2…Thing 3: Charlotte, Abbie & Ben

Dr. Seuss is all the craze! The day after Charles’ super Seussical 1st birthday, I drove through some crazy, torrential rain to Valencia to spend a couple of hours with three adorable kids. Charlotte and her baby siblings, Abbie and Ben. Leah, their mom, wanted to send out the twins’ 1st birthday invitations with some pictures of the celebrants. Thing 1 and Thing 2 – hahaha! I couldn’t believe what a cute idea their outfits were! I was beside myself, Abbie and Ben were so cute and funny! And big sis, Charlotte, took some time to warm up to me, but I we got to chatting just a bit about the Disney Princesses and then she started bouncing this beach ball around and all of a sudden, the shyness started to melt away. I’m so happy kids aren’t afraid of me. Maybe it’s my shortness that keeps them from being scared or intimidated…ya’ think? =)

After some time in the playroom, Abbie and Ben were treated to their own smash cake. Oh to be a year old again! Can’t wait to do a session with the whole family! The twins are starting to take steps!
