Running…

A couple of months ago, on a very rainy March morning, my sister, my aunt, her co-workers, my soon-to-be uncle and some church friends (Go Steve & Joan!), ran the Pasadena Marathon. Tin and Tita Cile didn’t want to overdo it, so they settled for just the mini marathon, which they finished in a little over 37 minutes. Since they were done so quickly, they spent the rest of the time cheering on runners near the finish line.

Don, Tita Cecile’s fiance, ran the WHOLE MOTHER MARATHON! After their morning’s run, they treated themselves (and the photographer) to a well-deserved meal at Roscoe’s.

On-Call

The day after Seri and Seong’s wedding, I felt like a zombie. It was such a long and tiring day that all I wanted to do on Sunday was watch the game and sleep. But when Ja called to ask if I wanted to do another shoot with him in Silverlake, I just couldn’t get myself to say no. As worn out as I was, I knew I needed the practice and it had been so long since I’d done a shoot with my mentor (man, what a suck-up, huh? haha! HI JA!), that I said, why not?

I’m so glad that I went because our subjects, Caisa and Roger, were so awesome and looked so comfortable in front of the camera that I actually shot with my right brain more than my left. Though the midday sun had me scrambling for the right settings sometimes, I felt something I didn’t feel often before I got my own camera: comfort and familiarity. Wow. It was a fun shoot and I learned so much from just watching Ja direct and assure, watching Caisa and Roger take direction while putting their own personalities out there; and I learned that if I don’t think so much, that “money shot” that Ja always tells me I can get…I can get.
