Indoors & Outdoors

James and I were busy in late February and early March! A week after Seri and Seong’s wedding, we were scheduled to shoot James’ sister, Jennie,  and future brother-in-law, Marlor. With a desire to shoot somewhere with a unique backdrop, we were fortunate to have the entire 2nd floor of the Bradbury Building in downtown all to ourselves. The interior of this structure is amazing, and reminded me of movies in the 40’s and 50’s, where all men wore suits and hats to work,  and women did no more than sit at a desk answering phones and handling dictated memos. You could almost hear the rapid tapping of old typewriter keys in this building.

After a morning spent in downtown, we spent an afternoon in Malibu to get shots of Jennie and Marlor under the sun. Jennie and Marlor are such a funny and sweet couple. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding day in a few months!

An Afternoon In Malibu…

A couple of weeks ago, James and I drove up to Malibu to shoot photos of Seong’s brother and his then soon-to-be wife. Seong (yes, Seong and his brother have the same first name. I keep forgetting to ask him about it) and Seri met back at UCI, and they’d been good friends since then, but only started dating last year. Before 2008 ended, they were engaged and what a cute couple they are! James and I got to shoot their wedding too!

Actually, I have a few gigs with James Landas Photography this year and so far so good =) (Thanks for trusting me, James!). I’ve been in the photography flow since I got my DSLR, and writing has taken a temporary backseat (not for long though because I really miss it). The volume of information that I’ve managed to learn since I got my camera last October has been insane! And I know I’ve only hit the tip of the proverbial iceberg. I’m excited though.

Anyhoo, here are some of my shots of  Seri and Seong. Adorable or what?!

Where It All Started

I spent Martin Luther King, Jr. Monday at Disneyland. Having spent a great amount of my time there when I was at UCI, it was literally like a second home to me, not to mention to Ate Tin and Annie. We went there after work/class on the weeknights, if only to forget a hectic day or terrible feeling. It was, and always has been, a treat for me to be there. This long weekend, however, was different. For once, I didn’t go to Disneyland to just hang out and have fun. On that MLK weekend, I was on assignment which, I have to say, I really didn’t mind, especially since I’m shooting with two of my mentors =)

Ate and Jeff had their first date at a restaurant in Downtown Disney, and since then have invested in annual passes each year so they could spend some time together somewhere that never fails to bring happiness to people. It was only fitting that they asked for their lifestyle shoot to take place there. I saw Disneyland through (forgive the upcoming pun) a new set of lenses. That day wasn’t about allowing myself to be a kid; it was about watching Ate and Jeff, and looking forward to their Happiest Ever After…
