On-Call

The day after Seri and Seong’s wedding, I felt like a zombie. It was such a long and tiring day that all I wanted to do on Sunday was watch the game and sleep. But when Ja called to ask if I wanted to do another shoot with him in Silverlake, I just couldn’t get myself to say no. As worn out as I was, I knew I needed the practice and it had been so long since I’d done a shoot with my mentor (man, what a suck-up, huh? haha! HI JA!), that I said, why not?

I’m so glad that I went because our subjects, Caisa and Roger, were so awesome and looked so comfortable in front of the camera that I actually shot with my right brain more than my left. Though the midday sun had me scrambling for the right settings sometimes, I felt something I didn’t feel often before I got my own camera: comfort and familiarity. Wow. It was a fun shoot and I learned so much from just watching Ja direct and assure, watching Caisa and Roger take direction while putting their own personalities out there; and I learned that if I don’t think so much, that “money shot” that Ja always tells me I can get…I can get.

A Fine Day to Get Married

Seri & Seong got married on a beautiful February afternoon in the O.C. in a chapel located on the Concordia University campus. James and I drove there and in the midst of our drive, realized that we had attended UCI for 4 and 5 years but never knew this college campus existed so close to our alma mater! Anyhow, it was a beautiful ceremony, followed by a funfilled reception and Seri and Seong looked as happy as any newlywed couple I’ve seen.

I’ve been fortunate to have seen a wedding from multiple angles (a guest, wedding coordinator, photographer, bridesmaid, etc), and though many moments during and between can be wearing, I could never say that I tire of knowing and seeing what a blessed, blessed event it is.

Congratulations, Seri & Seong!

Warming A House

Gwen, James & Seong got a new place a couple of months ago. Tucked conveniently in the heart of West L.A., the three roommates live in a beautiful 3 bedroom house, complete with a well-maintained green as can be backyard, brand new kitchen and bathrooms and furniture to match. To celebrate, they threw a housewarming party and we, well, we helped warm the place up =) Rachey’s nephew, Ryden, even helped with some pre-party cleaning (dang, is no one aware of child labor laws? haha!). From great food prepared by the in-house chef and his staff, to games and magic mic moments galore, I think we’ve all found a new hang out in Minerva Manor.
